Midday Rollover Brings Traffic To Near Standstill In NW El Paso

EL PASO — A 50-year-old woman died after being ejected from her car shortly before noon Friday.

Investigators said the woman lost control of her vehicle, which rolled over in the median after crashing into division markers. She was ejected more than 25 feet, they said.

Sheriff’s deputies were on the scene as well as emergency rescue crews trying to upright a car that had landed on its roof in the median between opposing directions of traffic.

The accident on I-10 slowed traffic to near standstills in both directions near Vinton.

Officials the woman was transported to R.E. Thomason Hospital after receiving critical injuries. Eastbound traffic was diverted to Gateway East while rescue crews worked at the site.
