Search For Men With Rifles In Northwest EP Ends

EL PASO, Tx – The late-Thursday afternoon search for subjects with rifles ended a few hours later with no suspects found.

El Paso Police Department officials said they were searching for a possible armed suspect who was last seen near Tippin Elementary School.

It all started at around 3:00 pm Thursday, when a woman reported seeing a person with a gun near Ojo De Agua Street in West El Paso.

Emergency transmitters reported possible “shots fired” from the area as well. Border Patrol officials were called to the scene to assist with their helicopter in finding the suspect.

Police received another call, just moments later, about an armed suspect, matching the same directions, near Tippin Elementary. The school was put on temporary lockdown while authorities searched the area. Students have since been allowed to go home.

Despite the proximity and similarity, police are treating both reports as different incidents until otherwise.

Authorities say they do not want to alarm the public or residents who live near the area. They advise everyone to be cautious, but not to worry about any threat.
