Aunt Killed, Niece Injured In Rollover Crash

EL PASO, Texas – Two Carlsbad women were involved in a deadly crash Thursday morning on their drive to El Paso. It happened around 9:30 a.m. on Montana near Huerco Tanks Road.

According to the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office, Angelica Mendoza, 20,was driving a 1998 Ford Explorer when she lost control and the vehicle rolled. Her aunt, Stephanie Wahl, 32, was thrown from the vehicle and died at the scene. Mendoza was rushed to a nearby hospital with life-threatening injures. As of Thursday evening, her condition is not known.

Montana was closed for approximately 4 hours. Traffic had to be re-routed to Interstate 10.
