County Breaks Ground On New Ysleta Annex

EL PASO — County officials and community members broke ground on the new Ysleta Annex Tuesday morning.

The annex, located at 9521 Socorro Road, will provide offices for at least nine departments that provide direct services to the public, such as Justices of the Peace No. 5, District Clerk, County Clerk, County Attorney, and Adult Probation.

“With this new building we are bringing the county closer to the people,” County Judge Anthony Cobos said in a news release.

The estimated cost for the annex will be $4.3 million. The firm Wright & Dalbin Architects Inc. designed the 30,000 square foot building, which will be the first county facility to be built under Energy Star Criteria for energy efficiency, officials said.

County officials have set Dec. 12 as a tentative date for ribbon-cutting and open house for the annex.
