Suspected Cock Fighting Ring Discovered In Dona Ana County
LAS CRUCES, NM – Animal control officers are investigating a cock fighting ring near the village of Dona Ana. The town is aboutsix miles north of Las Cruces.
Officials are not disclosing the exact location, but ABC- 7 has learned a resident’s dog ran away and killed a neighbor’s rooster.
An investigator was called to the scene where cockfighting paraphernalia was discovered this afternoon.
Investigators confiscated 20 dead roosters and another 25 that were still alive.
The roosters were taken to the Mesilla Valley Services Center. The Dona Ana County Sheriff’s office is handling the investigation.
