40 People Dead In Kabul Blast

KABUL, Afghanistan (AP) – Afghan officials say at least 40 people were killed in a suicide attack in central Kabul.

The car bomb ripped through the front wall of the Indian Embassy in Afghanistan’s capital. Authorities say it’s the deadliest attack in Kabul since the fall of the Taliban.

The blast hit near where dozens of Afghan men line up every morning to apply for visas.

Afghan President Hamid Karzai is condemning the bombing and says it was carried out by militants trying to undermine the friendship between Afghanistan and India. The Afghan interior minister is hinting that Pakistan could be involved.

A Taliban spokesman denies that his group was behind the bombing.

The attack is the sixth suicide bombing in Kabul this year.
