Silverado Tops List Of Stolen Vehicles In El Paso

EL PASO– Pick-up trucks continue to be the most stolen vehicles in the Sun City, police officials said Saturday.

The Chevrolet Silverado continues to be the most stolen vehicle after figures for the month of August were released. So far this year, 116 of the popular Chevy truck have been stolen.

The Ford F-150 is not far behind. Police officials said 111 of the best-selling truck in the world have been stolen in El Paso.

The Ford F-250 is a distant third. Thieves have stolen 81 of the heavy-duty trucks this year.

The Chevrolet Tahoe comes in third. Police said 57 of the best-selling Chevy SUV have been stolen this year. The GMC Sierra pick-up truck comes in fifth, with 53 of the units being stolen this year.

The El Paso County Auto Burglary & Theft Prevention Task Force urges motorists to lock their cars, take the keys out of the ignitionand use anti-theft devices. They said alarms, kill switches and locking devices usually prove useful in deterring auto theft. They also urge motorists toplace all valuables out of sight.
