NMSU Basketball Player Pleads ‘No Contest’ To Assault Charges

LAS CRUCES — NMSUbasketball Jahmar young pleaded “no contest”to misdemeanor Assault, Battery and Resisting Arrest charges.

A criminal complaint accused Young of exposing himself and offering a woman moneyin exchange forsexual acts last summer. The incident allegedly happened at a university dorm room.

A judge gave Young a one year deferred sentence, which means he won’t have to spend a day behind bars if he attends harassment classes and stays clear of alcohol for a year. Young will also have to stay clear of partied or businesses that sell alcohol.

A university spokesman said NMSU Head Basketball Coach Marvin Menzies will discipline Young internally.
