El Paso Man On Trial For Death Of Son In Drunk Driving Accident

EL PASO, Texas — An El Paso man was on trial Monday for the death of his son. Manuel Nunez was allegedly driving drunk and speeding in February 2007 when he hit a curb and rolled on Alameda.

His four-year-old son, Manuel Nunez, Jr., was not wearing a seatbelt, and he died after being thrown from the SUV.

Police say Nunez was driving between 30 and 50 miles over the speed limit.

According to court documents obtained by ABC-7, Nunez, Sr. Picked up his son’s body and yelled at him, “Why didn’t you wear your seatbelt?”
