20 New Cases Of Scabies Reported This Week At Area School Districts

EL PASO, Texas — A total of 20 new cases of scabies have been reported so far this week at three area school districts.

Clint ISD officials said Thursday they had a total of eight confirmed cases of scabies at six campuses in the district. Two cases, both at Montana Vista Elementary, had been reported as of March 13.

The schools affected are as follows:

Montana Vista Elementary – 3

Red Sands Elementary – 1

Desert Hills Elementary – 1

CT Welch Intermediate – 1

Surratt Elementary – 1

Horizon Middle School – 1

The El Paso ISD has reported four new cases of scabies in the past two days. One new case was reported at Crockett Elementary on Wednesday, and three new cases of scabies were reported at Guillen Middle School on Thursday.

That brings to eight the total number of new cases in the El Paso ISD this week. Four of those cases are at Guillen Middle School, two are at Hughey Elementary, one is at Crockett Elementary and one is at Logan Elementary

Six new cases of scabies have been reported at the Ysleta ISD this week. Two more new cases of scabies were reported in the Ysleta ISD Thursday afternoon — one at Sageland Elementary and one at Ysleta High School. Both were student cases; no new employee cases were reported.

Four new cases had been reported in the Ysleta ISD on Tuesday. One case each was reported at Bel Air High School, Eastwood Heights Elementary, Ascarate Elementary and Cadwallader Elementary.
