Police Detain 14-Year-Old Following Alleged Gang-Related Stabbing

A 14-year-old boy is in custody after a fight that resulted in a stabbing in Northeast El Paso.

According to authorities, the stabbing victim, a 17-year-old boy, went to the home of another 17-year-old boy at the 5800 block of Flounder in Northeast El Paso shortly before 8pm on Thursday, April 2 and called him out to fight.

The resident responded and a fight broke out; during the altercation another male also assaulted the resident, giving him a broken nose.

While this was happening, a 14-year-old male began to stab the 17-year-old victim in the back.

El Paso Police detained the 14-year-old and charged him with aggravated assault before turning him over to the Juvenile Probation Department.

Paramedics transported the 17-year-old stabbing victim to Thomason Hospital, where he was reported to be in stable condition.

Meanwhile, paramedics took the 17-year-old resident to Providence Hospital for his injuries.

The El Paso Police Department’s Gang Unit considers this fight to be gang-related.
