Elderly Man Accused Of Hitting Wife With Hammer

An elderly El Paso man is charged with aggravated assault, after police said he hit his wife in the head a hammer. Early Wednesday morning El Paso Police arrested Pedro Naranjo, 75 at his home in downtown El Paso.

Investigators said he got into a pushing and shoving match with his wife. During that fight, Naranjo grabbed a hammer and struck his wife in the head, police said. She was taken to a hospital and treated for three puncture wounds, two on the forehead, and one on the top of the head. According to police witnesses broke up the fight, which was apparently caused by jealousy.

Naranjo was booked into the El Paso County Jail on a bond of $75,000.
