Police: Shooting Victim’s Suspect Was Her Own Brother

LAS CRUCES, N.M. – A woman is in critical condition at an El Paso hospital after being shot in the head, and police say her brother is to blame for the shooting.

According to Las Cruces Police, officers responded to the 3700 block of Agate Street shortly before 2am Saturday. When they arrived, investigators say the officers found 43-year-old Denise Zikmanis with a gunshot wound to the head.

Authorities booked her brother, 41-year-old Richard Scott Zikmanis, into the Dona Ana County Detention Center.
