Arrest Made In Crash That Seriously Injured 5-Year-old Boy

El Paso Police have arrested 19-year-old Randy Soto in connection with a crash on March 30 that seriously injured a 5-year-old boy.

Soto, of the 12000 block of Abigail, was arrested and charges with injury to a child, a second degree felony, and aggravated assault, a second degree felony. Soto was the driver of a 2001 GMC Sierra truck that crossed into oncoming traffic in the 600 block of S. Zaragoza and collided with a Ford Focus in which the boy was a passenger.

As a result of the crash, the boy suffered serious bodily injury and was hospitalized due to his injuries. Speed is a factor in this crash but alcohol is not suspected to be a factor, according to police.

Soto was booked in to the El Paso County Detention Facility. His bond totaled $70,000. The investigation continues.
