Police ID Pedestrian Struck, Killed By Truck Tuesday

El Paso Police have identified the pedestrian that was struck and killed by a truck shortly after 9 p.m. Tuesday.

Carlos Molina, 60, of the 2000 block of Cypress, walking in the 100 block of S. Cotton when he was struck by a 1992 Dodge Dakota driven by 29-year-old Rebecca Gonzalez.

Molina was transported to University Medical Center for treatment of his injuries and died at the hospital early this morning. Investigators believe Molina was crossing Cotton against the traffic signal.

It has not been determined if Molina was in the crosswalk or not. Alcohol and speed are not believed to be factors in regards to the truck or the driver, but alcohol is a factor on Molina and may have led to him crossing in front of the Dakota, according to police.

This is the 21st traffic fatality of 2010 compared to 15 at this time in 2009 This is the 6th pedestrian fatality of 2010 compared to one at this time in 2009
