Berkley’s Last Meal, List Of Witnesses

William Josef Berkley will have three witnesses at his scheduled execution but the family of Sophia Martinez were still undecided if they would watch the execution.

Berkley was convicted in 2002 for the March 2000 murder of Sophia Martinez.

Berkley’s witnesses will be his girlfriend Samantha M. Gray, his friend and one of his attorneys Cori Harbour and his spiritual advisor Irene Wilcox.

El Paso District Attorney Jaime Esparza also was set to watch the execution.

Berkley has kept busy since midnight, only sleeping three hours. From midnight to 3:15 a.m. he cleaned his cell. At 6:35 a.m. he showered and at 7:57 a.m. he was escorted to visitation. His inmate visitation ended at noon when he was transferred to the Huntsville prison unit to prepare for his execution.

Berkley’s last meal was two jalapeo cheeseburgers, two BLT cheeseburgers, fried okra, chocolate and vanilla ice cream, and two root beers.

Berkley is scheduled to be executed at 5 p.m. El Paso time.
