New Mexico Woman Killed In Transmountain Wreck

Police have identified the woman killed in a three-vehicle crash Friday afternoon as 45-year-old Lisa Jenson of Edgewood, New Mexico.

The crash happened on the east-bound lanes of Transmountain Road west of Tom Mays Park at about 4 p.m. Friday.

According to investigators, Jason Jenson, 49, was headed down Transmountain in his Toyota Prius when he arrived at a spot in the highway where traffic had slowed to a crawl. He then made a u-turn in an effort to get back onto the westbound lanes, investigators added.

That is when an F-150 pick-up truck crashed into the right side of the Prius and sent it spinning back into the eastbound lanes where it crashed into a Volkswagen. Jason and Lisa Jenson were both rushed to University Medical Center. Lisa later died at the hospital, marking the 24th traffic death of the year.

Neither of the Jensons were wearing seatbelts, according to investigators.

The driver of the F-150 was taken to Providence Memorial Hospital and the driver of the Volkswagen was not injured, according to police.
