Update: Police ID Bicyclist Struck In Hit-And-Run

El Paso Police have released the name of the bicyclist who was struck by a vehicle in West El Paso late Thursday night.

Ruben Lemus, 51, of Anthony, New Mexico, was riding his bicycle in the 7300 block of S. Desert at 10:35 p.m. when he was struck.

Lemus, who was wearing a helmet, was transported to University Medical Center for treatment of serious injuries. Lemus also had a flashing red light on the rear of his bicycle.

At this time, police have little information about the hit-and-run vehicle and police are asking for the public’s help in locating the vehicle and driver that struck Lemus. Anyone with information regarding this crash is encouraged to contact police at 915-832-4400 or Crime Stoppers at 566-TIPS (8477).
