Miss Texas USA Leaving UTEP, El Paso

Kelsey Moore, the reigning Miss Texas USA, is saying goodbye to El Paso.

Moore, a UTEP volleyball player, was one of two Miner students who competed in the Miss USA Pageant in Las Vegas.

Kelsey still has two years of eligibility left in college athletics, and will be transferring to another school, where she also plans to continue playing volleyball. UTEP officials granted Moore an unconditional release.

Moore says she loved her time at UTEP, but tells ABC-7’s Paul Cicala she wants to transfer to a school that has a better reputation in academics.

The athlete-turned-beauty queen said she’s narrowed down her choices to three universities: UT, TCU, and North Texas.
