Mountain Rescue In Record Breaking Heat

A scary situation for several hikers in the Franklin Mountains Sunday afternoon.

El Paso fire officials said a woman and two men, all in their 20s, got stranded on the west side of the mountain near Mesa Hills DrIVE and Stanton Street.

The hikers use their cell phone to tell emergency crews they had run out of water and needed help getting down the mountain. The call came in just after noon.

It took crews two hours to finally make contact with them.

Considering the record breaking heat, officials said the hikers were not seriously hurt.
