Sheriff’s Deputies Taser Man On Dance Floor After He Allegedly Tries To Punch Them

A drunk man who fought with patrons on a quincenera dance floor was tased by off-duty El Paso County Sheriff’s deputies Sunday night.

The man, identified as Rogelio Solis, 28, of the 1600 block of Fiesta, became aggressive and belligerent toward authorities when the deputies began to talk to them, according to sheriff’s officials.

After ignoring instructions, deputies say the man tried to punch them. A sheriff’s deputy then tasered the man as family members of the man started becoming confrontational with the deputies.

The incident was diffused when more deputies arrived on site to help calm the crowd. Solis was taken into custody without further incident.

Solis was charged with public intoxication and resisting arrest. He was booked and remains at the El Paso County Detention facility.
