DEA Conducts Raids on Borderland Homes

Dozens of law enforcement officers took part in a nationwide operation to halt drug traffickers. The roundup was headed by the Drug Enforcement Administration, but officials with the agency remained tight-lipped about the details of the investigations.

“All of the police cars were here and the people were out of their homes,” said one resident who wanted to remain anonymous. “I have no idea what they were doing.”

Officials with the El Paso Police Department and the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office confirmed that they did provide assistance in the operation, but they deferred all questions to the DEA.

Helicopters were seen hovering around east El Paso and dozens of law enforcement authroties were seen at several locations around town. The DEA is expected to hold a news conference on the operation on Thursday morning.
