News Reports: Family Of Boy Shot Dead Seeks $10 Million

In April of 2010, 14-year-old Anthony Lucas was shot and killed by authorities in Hudspeth County.

Investigators say he fired several shots at Hudspeth County deputies and Parks and Wildlife game wardens. When the authorities returned fire, they struck and killed him.

It is still unclear which law enforcement officer pulled the trigger. News reports state Lucas’ family has mailed a letter requesting $10 million for the wrongful killing of the 14-year-old.

According to an El Paso Times article, this is the first step in filing a lawsuit. If no settlement is offered, the family will then reportedly file a lawsuit against several officials, including the Texas Attorney General and Sheriff Arvin West.
