UPDATE: Man Killed In Overnight Rollover Identified

A 20-year-old man was killed early Monday morning when the car he was driving in rolled over in far Northeast El Paso.

Police say that Antonio Mondragon, 20, of the 10300 block of Sherwood, was driving a 2008 Mazda 6 car south on the 14000 block of McCombs at a high rate speed with Lyzette Duron, 19, his front seat passenger.

The investigation showed that Mondragon lost control of the vehicle and drove onto the shoulder and over a dirt berm. The vehicle rolled over several times and Mondragon, who was not wearing a seat belt, was thrown out the driver’s side window.

He was transported to University Medical Center (UMC) where he died early Monday morning. Duron was wearing a seat belt and was taken to UMC for treatment of non-life threatening injuries. No other vehicles or individuals were involved in this single vehicle collision. Speed is a factor and alcohol is suspected. Investigators are awaiting toxicology reports. This is the 33rd traffic fatality of 2010 as compared to 30 at this same time in 2009.
