Borderland Fans Of Team USA Watch Game Against Ghana

This weekend brought disappointment for fans of Team USA Soccer.

The fans crowded Borderland bars and restaurants to watch the U.S. take on Ghana in Saturday’s World Cup Round of 16 match, broadcast on ABC-7.

The Stars and Stripes were the winners of World Cup Group C, drawing with both England and Slovenia and defeating Algeria. Winning the group sent Team U.S.A. onto the Round of 16, where they faced Ghana.

Early in the game, fans told ABC-7 they had hoped the U.S. would make it to the next round. “We play better with adversity! 3-1! 3-1!” said one U.S. fan.

“They’re going to win 2-1, second half,” said another fan regarding the U.S.

But it wasn’t meant to be. It was a heartbreaking loss as Ghana beat the U.S. 2-1.
