Family Still Living In Hotel Room Following Weekend Arson

Las Vegas transplants Davina Brady, her husband Brian and her father David thought they’d found the perfect home to start their new lives in El Paso.

“This has been the move of our lives,” she told ABC-7. “We’ve wanted to come here for a long time.”

Things changed when arson struck two houses under construction on Misty Point Court early Saturday morning, directly behind Brady’s soon-to-be-home.

The heat from the fire blew out windows and damaged the roof and stucco.

Brady said she heard the news from her mortgage lender.

“I dropped the phone,” she said. “I was shocked.”

Just days away from closing on the house, Brady and her family now find themselves living in an El Paso hotel room awaiting repairs.

Builder Desert View Homes is taking care of the hotel costs.

Brady told ABC-7 something like that wouldn’t happen back in Vegas and she greatly appreciates it.

Saturday’s arsons are the sixth and seventh in far east El Paso since late May.

With no suspects in custody, investigators are asking residents in the area to report anything they find suspicious.
