Police ID 22-Year-Old Killed In Monday Morning Crash

El Paso Police have released the identity of the 22-year-old woman killed in a single-vehicle crash on Monday morning.

Celina Valdez, of Socorro, was traveling southbound on Loop 375 when she drove onto the center median and struck a light pole. The vehicle then struck a second metal pole and Valdez’s Honda was split in half by the impact.

Valdez died at the scene. Investigators believe speed is a factor in this crash, according to police officials.

It is not known if alcohol was involved or if Valdez was wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash.

This is the 41st traffic-related death this year compared to 39 at this time in 2009.
