Police Association Votes To Approve Contract Changes With City

Members of the Municipal Police Officers Association have overwhelmingly voted to defer part of their pay raises until next year.

Michael Short, second vice president for the association, told ABC-7 officers voted to defer 1 percent of their pay until June 30, 2011. That means they’ll get a 1 percent raise Sept. 1 before next year’s pay raise.

Short said City Manager Joyce Wilson still has to get El Paso City Council to accept the deal but believes that won’t be a problem.
