Dallas Cowboys Coach, Ex-Miner Says Wade Phillips Dejected By Firing

Wes Phillips, who played at UTEP and is currently on staff with the Dallas Cowboys, said his father Wade Phillips is dejected about being fired.

“It’s tough to see your father get fired no matter whatever anybody else wants to say,” Wes Phillips, who believes his dad will continue coaching, told ESPN. “At the same time you know it going into this business, particularly when you accept a head coaching job. If things don’t go well you will be the one to take the fall. I’ve been around it before — he’s been fired before. Obviously I haven’t been on that staff at the time, so that’s been an adjustment. But we’re ready to go forward.”

Wes Phillips played at UTEP from 1997-2001 and was a student assistant coach with the Miners in 2003. Wes Phillips is the Dallas Cowboys Offensive Assistant / Quality Control coach.
