DWI Task Force Has Busy First Night; Enforcement To Continue This Weekend

The El Paso Police Department’s supplemented DWI task force had a busy first night on Thursday, Jan. 27, 2011. It was the kick off of Police Chief Greg Allen’s effort to reduce the number of traffic collisions and traffic related fatalities within the City of El Paso.

These efforts include the use of additional officers to supplement the Department’s DWI unit. The department’s DWI task force is getting staffing supplements from each of the five regional commands. Each regional command has dedicated two officers from their traffic units to supplement the DWI task forces efforts.

The first night of the operation resulted in 10 individuals being arrested and charged with DWI, one Minor detectable, three individuals were arrested for other offenses, 61 hazardous citations, 48 non-hazardous citations and three minor in possession/consumption of alcohol.

This supplemented DWI effort will continue Friday, Jan. 28 & Saturday, Jan. 29, 2011. This supplemented Thursday, Friday, Saturday effort will continue until further notice.
