Animal Groups Mad City Plans To Open Its Own Pet Store

Shopping for a new pet?

You may soon be able to buy one from the unlikeliest of places – the City of El Paso – just months after city leaders ended sales of dogs and cats at pet stores.

This has El Paso’s animal rescue groups pretty upset because those plans mean moving pet adoptions out of the animal service’s department.

Volunteers said they did a fine job of providing those services on a contract basis to the city at a rate that can’t be beat.

“I feel that we’ve been doing a very good job to the community and we’ve assisted the City of El Paso for zero dollars. and now they’re pretty much telling us that they’ve got a new game in town,” said Rebecca Rojas of New Hope Alliance.

You can read more about these plans from our news partners in this week’s edition of El Paso Inc.
