Police Say Man Was Drunk, Speeding, And On Phone When He Was Killed in Crash
The El Paso Police Dept. identified the 37-year-old man killed in a traffic collision Sunday night as Haasan Amin, of the 200 block of Shadow Mountain.
The accident occurred at about 9:11 p.m. Sunday near the 6300 block of N. Mesa. Amin was traveling south in a 1997 Honda Accord on North Mesa when the vehicle began to slide out of control. The Accord struck a parked U-Haul truck which was not occupied by any passengers. Amin died at the scene as a result of his injuries.
At this time police investigators said they suspect speed, alcohol and cell phone use to be factors in this crash.
This is the 10th traffic related death in 2011 as compared to five at this time in 2010.
