Sugar Detox: Day 12-14
Day 12-14: In sickness, and in health.
First off I would like to thank all of you for your concerned emails. The past three days I’ve had a horrible case of the flu.
It’s the kind of flu where you have to lay down and rest after sitting up for 15 minutes, so the last thing on my mind was breaking out the computer and trying to be funny and witty about my not-so-funny addiction to sugar.
I’ve actually heard a lot of stories from fans about how they went on diets and within a few weeks got sick and dropped the diet all together. So much so that I’m actually wondering if my flu is somehow linked to the changes in my diet.
But really, when it comes down to it, it doesn’t matter. Being sick is one of the toughest times to stick with your diet. Comfort food is the first thing we reach for when we don’t feel well.
For me, it’s typically Sprite, Icees, and more Ben and Jerry’s ice cream than I’m comfortable admitting.
This time, I stuck with water, soup, and Fig Newtons. Not the best of diets, but I didn’t cheat so badly that I didn’t want to go back to my healthier ways when I started feeling better today.
Have you ever gotten sick within a week or two of starting a diet or new work out regiment?
