Sugar Detox: Day 15 Progress Update

It’s been 15 days since I’ve started my sugar detox to break my bad eating habits.

My fat-day pants that became my everyday staple jeans are fitting more loosely. I can fit back into my everyday, regular jeans, though an ample muffin-top will keep those in my drawer a few more weeks.

In terms of size, I’ve lost 2.5 inches and 4.5 pounds by only changing the way I look at food and breaking my sugar addiction.

I cut my daily sugar intake by 80 percent and, thanks to portion control, my caloric intake by more than 30 percent.

I’ve been starting to see a real change in the way I feel. I no longer depend on my sugar highs to get me started in the morning. My sluggish afternoons have been replaced with an increase in energy and even a better mood.

The biggest benefit has been that my cravings no longer control my life. I can go out to eat and not go directly to the dessert menu. I don’t plan my meals around my next sugar fix.

My nutritionist, Javier Gutierrez, has been very encouraging.

“I think you’re past the hump and you’re on you’re way to success,” he said.

I’ve still got 15 more days to go, but I’ve got more motivation than ever.

I haven’t felt this good in more than a decade. Here’s to another 15 days!
