El Paso County Sheriff’s Deputies arrested a woman on Tuesday for allegedly performing dental work, out of her home, without a state license.

According to officials with the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office, investigators received information from Horizon City Police regarding a resident who was allegedly performing Dental Services out of her residence.

Officials say that during the investigation it was learned that 38-year-old Edith Castaneda was performing dental procedures such as tooth extractions, drilling and filling of teeth, injecting patients with anesthesia, and dispensing medications.

Deputies arrested Castaneda on Tuesday, June 7th and charged with violating the Dentistry Act, Practicing Dentistry without a License. Officials say this is a 3rd degree felony.

According to the act, a person “may not practice or offer to practice dentistry or represent that they practice dentistry unless they hold a license issued by the board.”

Castaneda was booked into the El Paso County Detention facility under a $10,000.00 bond.

Additionally, the Sheriff’s Office is requesting that anyone how may have been receiving treatment from Castaneda, to please contact the Criminal Investigation Crimes Against persons Section at 546-2291.
