Former Miss El Paso Accused Of Shoplifting At Dillard’s Store

Miss El Paso USA 2008, Lorena Tavera, has been accused of shoplifting at the Sunland Park Mall Dillard’s store.

Police said Tavera took a $69 shirt from the store, hid it in a plastic shopping bag and then walked out of the store without paying about 6:45 p.m. Friday

Police said Tavera was stopped outside the store, held for police and was arrested on suspicion of theft over $50, under $500. Tavera also had two outstanding municipal court traffic warrants. Her bond for the shoplifting charge was set at $300.

According to the website for Laura’s Productions, an El Paso modeling agency where Tavera is listed under “assistants and instructors,” Tavera was Miss El Paso Teen USA 2006 and placed in the top 15 at the Miss Texas Teen USA pageant. She placed sixth at Miss Texas USA. Tavera is currently a student at the University of Texas at El Paso.
