1992 ?Sweet 16? Team Reunion Highlights This Week?s UTEP Basketball Promotions

EL PASO, TEXAS ? The UTEP men?s and women?s basketball teams will both play two games in the Don Haskins Center this week, with several special promotions in place for Miner fans.

The men will host Tulsa on Wednesday (7 p.m.) and Tulane on Saturday (7 p.m.), and the women will take on Marshall Thursday (7 p.m.) and Tulane on Sunday (1 p.m.).

Wednesday is ?Orange Out Night,? with the first 3,000 fans receiving orange t-shirts courtesy of Walgreens. Saturday is ?We Love Our Miners Night,? with 5,000 three-point cheer cards to be given away.

The highlight of the week is the 20-year reunion of the 1992 team that beat top seed Kansas to reach the ?Sweet 16? of the NCAA Tournament. Numerous coaches and players from the squad that finished 27-7 will return to El Paso and be honored at halftime of Saturday?s game.

The UTEP women continue to sit atop the Conference USA standings with a 20-2 overall record and a 9-0 mark in league play. Thursday is ?Slam Dunk School Night,? and all kids get in free. Kids will also receive Southwest Dairy Farmers bags, and there will be an autograph session after the game. Sunday is ?Breast Cancer Awareness Day,? and all fans who wear pink will get in free. There will also be in-game pink prizes, and a free post-game basketball clinic.
