Deadly Rollover Might Be Linked To Shots-Fired Call, Las Cruces Police Say

Las Cruces police said a fatal rollover crash might be related to reports of shots fired near the area Saturday evening.

Shortly after 10:30 p.m. Saturday, Las Cruces police were called to a rollover crash near May Avenue and Martinez Street. When officers arrived, the driver, a 31-year-old man, was found inside the vehicle and deceased.

The name of the victim is being withheld at this time pending further investigation

Officers learned that the vehicle was traveling the wrong way on a part of May near Solano Drive that is designated as a one-way.

The victim’s vehicle struck a parked car near Martinez Street before rolling over and crashing through a fence. No other injuries were reported.

Police also received reports of gunshots in the area shortly before the crash.

Detectives continue investigate and are asking for anyone with information to call Las Cruces Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477) or send a tip via text message to LCTIPS (528477).
