El Paso Residents Have New Tool To Track Crime

With just one click of a computer mouse, El Paso residents can now find out just how safe their neighborhood is.

Local law enforcement agencies have added El Paso to raidsonline.com, a website that provides a new way to stay informed about crime in the city limits and the county.

El Paso police spokesman Javier Sambrano said records from the El Paso Police Department and the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office sync with the website.

To find out the crimes reported in a certain neighborhood, residents have to type in an address.

The reported crimes are then displayed on a map.

“Technology has made it a lot easier for the community to stay informed of what’s happening, and it is important,” said Sambrano.

Raidsonline.com also has information on the type of crime it is, where it happened and what day.

“I think it’s pretty cool because if you’re moving into a new neighborhood, you want to know if it’s a bad area or see where the thefts and robberies have been happening,” said Adam Deise, an east El Paso resident.

There is even a mobile device application that can be downloaded.

Users can sign up for email alerts to get updated when new crimes have been reported.

Sambrano said the website should also encourage users to report crimes to local law enforcement.
