Sheriff?s Office Crimes Against Persons Detectives are still looking for the remaining lone fugitive wanted for an AGGRAVATED ASSAULT that took place on Saturday 02/25. The MANHUNT continues for JOSE ALBERTO RIVERA (34) of El Paso, TX .
UPDATE: One of the two men featured in last Tuesday?s MANHUNT SPECIAL EDITION (02/28) has been captured. Late Friday morning 03/02 , Fugitive CESAR CONTRERAS was detained at one of El Paso?s International Ports of Entry attempting to enter the United States. U.S. Officials turned him over to Sheriff?s Detectives a short time later. CONTRERAS? arrest marked MANHUNT?s 112th CAPTURE.
New details released by Sheriff?s Officials indicate that the Aggravated Assault incident that took place on 02/25 was drug related. Officials have reason to believe remaining fugitive JOSE ALBERTO RIVERA may still be in possession of the Black Jetta & may have fled south of the Border To Juarez, Mexico.

BACKGROUND:
FEBRUARY 2012 On Saturday 02-25-2012 at 10:30am, Sheriff?s Deputies were called to an apartment complex in San Elizario, Texas in reference an Aggravated Assault call. Officials met with the Victim who told Detectives he was to meet a female at some apartments nearby. After meeting with the female in the parking lot of the apartment complex, a black in color Jetta vehicle drove up & stopped next to the Victim?s vehicle. Two male subjects exited the Jetta & approached the Victims vehicle. The Suspect driver of the Jetta opened the door to the victims car & removed the keys from the ignition then pulled a handgun from his waistband & threatened the Victim. The Suspect passenger of the Jetta also displayed a handgun during the incident. The Victim observed a vehicle passing through the complex parking lot, jumped out of his car shoving the suspect driver out of the way running towards the vehicle. Luckily, the vehicle stopped and gave the victim a ride away from the apartment complex. The Victim then called 911.
Through the course of their investigation, Crime Against Persons Detectives were able to identify the assailants as CESAR CONTREREAS (35) ? DRIVER & JOSE ALBERTO RIVERA (34) – PASSENGER of El Paso, TX . Warrants of arrest have been issued on both men for the offense of AGGRAVATED ASSAULT W/ DEADLY WEAPON. Both men have an extensive Criminal History & have various addresses listed in the El Paso, Texas area.
