Matt Dougherty

Matt Dougherty joined the ABC-7 news team in February, 2012, and co-anchors the weekend primetime newscasts with Whitney Burbank.

You may remember some of Matt’s most memorable stories at ABC7 including:

-Soldiers with PTSD Denied Post Access with Service Dogs

-The Case of Imprisoned Dallas Truck Driver Jabin Bogan

-The Horse Graveyard

-Sherman Hemsley Frozen

-Sun Orthodontix Cuts Off Treatment

Prior to joining ABC7, of the most notable stories Matt has covered is an investigation into Houston’s drug-addicted street prostitutes, for which he won an Emmy while still in college.

Matt also covered hurricane damage in Louisiana and surveyed the destruction with President George H.W. Bush.

He says he is truly excited to be a part of the Borderland community.

“With so many changes happening here in the borderland, it’s hard not to step back and see that we’re standing on the frontlines of history,” Matt says. “I am truly blessed to be here in El Paso, and be here now.”

Matt was born and raised in Houston. He is a journalism graduate of the Jack Valenti School of Communications at the University of Houston.
