Local Food Bank Needs Online Votes To Get Donations From Wal-Mart

El Pasoans Fighting Hunger, formerly the West Texas Food Bank and El Paso?s only Food Bank, has a chance to win $1 million or $50,000 through the Wal-Mart Fighting Hunger Together competition. The contest runs from April 9 ? April 30.

Wal-Mart will donate $1 million to the area with the most votes and $50,000 to the 20 runners up. Visit, and click on the Fighting Hunger Together tab to vote. users may vote once per day.

Wal-Mart selected 200 Food Banks from communities across the country with the highest unemployment rates to compete for the donations. A donation of this size would make a significant difference as El Pasoans Fighting Hunger is a new food bank that took over the service areas of El Paso, Hudspeth, and Culberson Counties from the West Texas Food Bank because these areas were being underserved. One out of every four El Pasoans are food insecure – that is 135,000 children, and 85,000 adults TODAY. Visit to vote for El Paso.
