A Car Wreck Puts Teenage Driver In Critical Condition
El Paso Police confirmed the Dodge Stratus that crashed early Saturday morning was carrying a group of four teens.
The driver, 18 year old Jesus Ramirez, was hospitalized with life threatening injuries while all passengers received treatment at area hospitals for what are believed to be non-life threatening injuries.
The El Paso Police Department’s Special Traffic Investigations said the car crashed at about 3:11 a.m. on Saturday morning on Loop 375 near the Zaragoza exit.
Police said the 2001 Dodge Stratus driven by Jesus Ramirez drove off of the road and travelled through a construction zone.
According to investigators the Stratus struck a portion of the roadway that was under construction and caught fire.
Police said passenger 18 year old Mario Zamora was able to pull the 16 year old female out of the wreckage and was assisted by a passerby in pulling Jesus Ramirez from the car.
18 year old Marcos Ramirez was able to get out of the vehicle on his own.
Investigators said all passengers were wearing seat belts prior to the crash.
Police have not determined if alcohol was a factor in the crash.
