El Paso Attorney Assisting Imprisoned Trucker
The Dallas-area trucker imprisoned in Mexico has a lawyer making strides to expedite his release from El Paso. ABC-7 is the first to confirm that El Paso attorney Carlos Spector is working on behalf of Demco Express shipping company driver, Jabin Bogan. Bogan was arrested by Mexican customs agents on April 17, after crossing the Bridge of the Americas from El Paso to Juarez. The truck driver was transporting a shipment of ammunition from a manufactory in Johnson City, Tennessee to an ammo dealer in Phoenix. The shipment was 260,000 rounds of high-powered rifle ammunition. ?The amount of ammo, in a sense, is his defense,? Spector said. ?It?s so unrealistic, and unbelievable and incredible. If it you?re able to do it, we wouldn?t be talking, because it would have gotten through without any problems.? Spector says his first order of business is getting Mexican human right?s organizations involved to monitor Bogan?s status in jail. Formal charges have still not been filed against Bogan.
