General Tells Men To Stop Running Shirtless On Fort Bliss

Maj. Gen. Dana J. H. Pittard, commanding general at Fort Bliss, has told men to stop exercising shirtless on post.

“I know we are all working on our six-pack abs and beach bodies, but running shirtless is not authorized on Fort Bliss. I have seen several men running and walking around Fort Bliss shirtless. Hey, put your shirts back on! Additionally, it is against the rules to work out shirtless at all fitness centers on post. Let’s remember proper etiquette – indoors and outdoors,” Pittard said in his most recent column in the Fort Bliss Monitor.

Aside from the reminder not to go shirtless, Pittard also wrote about the upcoming Fort Bliss Armed Forces Day Triathlon at 7 a.m. May 19 at the Replica Aquatic Center. The triathlon is now part of the Southwest Challenge Series. To register, go to Soto or Stout Fitness Center, or register online at www.active.com. The race is free to all active duty who register by the close of business on May 16. After that, there will be a $10 for late registration for active duty. All other are $45 for individuals/$65 for teams; late registration increases the fee by $10. For more information, call 744-5790.
