El Pasoans Will Not Be Asked For ID When Voting This Month

El Paso County Elections chief Javier Chacon told ABC-7 that department officials have issued instructions to their poll workers to not ask for any photo ID before voting.

Chacon said it is because Texas Senate Bill 14 did not get any prior approval from the U.S. Department of Justice before being signed into law, thus not making it legal or official. Workers are being told to follow procedures from past elections.

Early voting and absentee voting begins May 14 and runs through May 25.

Election day is Tuesday May 29.
