Thunderstorms Plowing Through Southern New Mexico, Far West Texas

Thunderstorms that started around Silver City and areas to our north around midday are now plowing through southern New Mexico and far west Texas. Severe thunderstorm warnings have been issued for eastern Doa Ana and Otero counties this afternoon and evening. Border Patrol agents at White Sands reported golf ball-sized hail around 5:45 p.m., along with some vehicle accidents. ABC-7 Doppler radar showed numerous hail cores possibly producing marble to golf ball-sized hail moving through Orogrande and southern Otero County as of 7 p.m. The severe weather should end early Friday night with decent weather for most of your weekend. Next chance of rain will arrive late Sunday.
