ABC-7 Sorts Through State’s Special Audit Report For Sunland Park
New Mexico state officials are working to restore order in Sunland Park. The embattled city is the subject of an 80-page special audit report released Monday by the Office of the State Auditor.
The state auditor concluded Sunland Park administrators committed multiple procurement violations; expended funds beyond approved budget limits; violated the Per Diem and Mileage Act; and made numerous improper disbursements from the city’s Fire Protection Fund.
The report, which encompassed events from 2010 to 2012, resulted in the suspension of the city’s finance director and purchasing agent.
