Man Charged With Capital Murder In Connection To Child’s Death

A man is behind bars without bond in connection to the suspicious death of 2-year-old Isaiah Villanueva.

Friday, officers in El Paso’s lower valley were conducting a welfare check on the 600-block of Lafayette. That’s when they allegedly found Isaiah unresponsive. The toddler was then taken to Del Sol Medical Center where he later died.

Police tell ABC-7 29-year-old Ever Mendez was charged with Capital Murder for Villanueva’s death. He is also accused of injuring one of the boy’s siblings.

The investigation also revealed Mendez had an outstanding warrant for criminal non-support and three traffic warrants.
