Request For Removal Of Civil Service Commissioner Denied
A faction of city employees and a civil service commissioner are asking for some of the civil service commissioners to be removed, for malfeasance and misfeasance they claim.
In dozens of documents obtained only by ABC-7, Civil Service Commissioner Jesus Bautista called for the removal of commissioner Marcia Turner.
In the documents, Bautista claims Turner has engaged in malfeasance due to her allegedly “making faces and gestures” at him during meetings, having predictable votes, “adoring” City Manager Joyce Wilson, and by writing a letter about him to City Council Representative Dr. Michiel Noe.
“The majority of El Paso employees are happy,” Turner said. “It is clear to many present, I’ve enjoyed serving and I really regret that it’s come to this.”
In meetings and hearings that consumed hours of time by city council members, the request for removal was unanimously rejected.
“I am very disappointed in Mr. Bautista for doing this,” Representative Susie Byrd said. “This is a personality conflict, I apologize that (Marcia Turner) has to be here.”
